We know you’re busy. And Google Analytics can seem pretty overwhelming. So we’ve put together a list of 5 short reports you can view in just a few minutes a month. If you are interested in learning more about Google Analytics, please check our webinar schedule. This data is taken from a sample of our customer sites.

1. Overall statistics

Path : google.com/analytics/your-domain

This is the overall view for your google analytics and is the default page for most users. You'll see how many users visited your page in the specified time period. (Default is a week, but it can be set to any value using the calendar at the top right of your page.)

2. Where are your users located?

Path: Audience >> Geo >> Location

This shows where your visitors come from. By default, it is usually by country, but you can see more local data by choosing City on the links under the map. You should be seeing the bulk of your visitors coming from your service area.

3. What devices are your visitors using? How many are mobile?

Path: Audience >> Mobile >> Overview

This reports shows how many people visit your site using a desktop (or laptop), tablet or mobile phone. Typically for most practices this runs at about 35%, but can be much higher or lower depending on your area. Expect the mobile percentage to grow dramatically over the next few years.

4. Where are your visitors referred from? Did they click a link somewhere to get to your page?

Path: Acquisition >> All Referrals

This report shows you where your visitors were before they clicked a link to go to your site. Please note that the red box is this user's domain which has been blocked out for privacy.

5. What pages on your site do your users visit most?

Path: Behavior >> Site Content >> All Pages

This report will show you what pages your users visit most. Generally, contact and about us pages rank highly, as do home pages. Other typical top 10 pages include services, specials, and new client areas. If an area you wish to promote is not ranking highly on your visited pages, it may indicate that you need to make some changes to your site.
