November Social Media Ideas Good Enough to Eat

A puppy by the Thanksgiving table.

The leaves are falling, the scent of pumpkin permeates the air, and the holidays are just around the corner. Before you get too wrapped up in the season, it’s time to start planning your social media calendar for November. If the thought stresses you out more than your Thanksgiving shopping list, have no fear. The team at Beyond Indigo Pets is here with some easy and effective social media ideas for your veterinary practice.

The Month of Senior Pets

November is both National Adopt a Senior Pet Month and National Senior Pet Month. Senior pets in the shelter often have a much harder time finding a forever home. These older animals have so much love to give (sometimes more than their younger counterpoints). They might need a little help to catch the eye of their new family, though. Use your platform to showcase the benefits of bringing home a senior pet. You can do this by:

  • Writing blog about the positive aspects of owning a senior pet
  • Sharing some photos and stories of successful senior pet adoptions in your practice
  • Making a video with some easy senior pet care tips
  • Creating a post that asks followers to share photos of their beloved senior pets

National Cook for Your Pets Day

November 1 is National Cook for Your Pets Day. This is a great opportunity to create some unique content for your social media pages. Share a few pet-safe recipes that pet owners can try at home. Pen an educational blog about the importance of pet nutrition. You might even want to cook some pet-friendly treats to keep in the hospital that day (or week) to encourage people to come in to see you.

International Pet Groomer Appreciation Day

Pet groomers do a lot to keep pets looking and feeling their best. International Pet Groomer Appreciation Day gives you the perfect excuse to spend some time praising them on your socials. Although it also falls on November 1, you can use a few posts scattered throughout the month to pay homage. Talk about the importance of regular grooming for pets. If you offer grooming in your hospital, highlight your groomers with their photos and bios (with their permission, of course). Share some before and after photos of animals in the grooming salon.

National Black Cat Day

November 17 is National Black Cat Day, so use it as an opportunity to share some cute photos of black cats in your practice and in your families. You can also have a photo contest for your followers and encourage them to engage with your posts by sharing cute or funny photos of their own black cats. Social media followers always love a good cat photo or video!

Thanksgiving Social Ideas

The most notable November holiday is, of course, Thanksgiving. While it’s mostly for the human members of the family, there are ways you can include your pets. Use your platform to try to make the holiday as safe and fun for our furry family members as possible. Make a few graphics about Thanksgiving dangers for pets. Share recipes for pet-friendly treats they can enjoy during dinner. Write a blog or two about creating a safe holiday celebration for pets. Be sure to share some fun Thanksgiving content, too, to keep your page both informative and fun.
