Veterinary Social Media Post Ideas for January

The end of the year is here (we know, crazy, right??). Before you get sucked into the abyss that comes with the ending of one year and the start of another, now is the time to start thinking about your January marketing plan. Have no fear, Beyond Indigo Pets is here to help you find some social media inspiration that will keep your page engagement numbers up and your stress levels low.
Walk It Out
One of January’s biggest claims to fame when it comes to pet holidays is that it’s Walk Your Dog Month. Start off on the right paw with your clients by using your social media platforms to encourage people to walk with their pets. Even though the month specifies walking with dogs, you can create posts and blogs that talk about walking with any kind of pet. Offer some tips on how to safely walk with animals. Create an in-hospital special where you provide free nail trims to anyone who brings in a photo of walking with their pet in January. Set a practice-wide goal of a certain amount of miles to walk in the month and encourage your clients to join in. You can create a variety of posts that highlight the importance of walking with a pet.
Dress It Up
January 14 is Dress Up Your Pet Day, which can provide social media content ideas for a whole week. Write a blog with tips on how to dress up a pet safely and comfortably. Ask people to share photos of their pets in their most stylish clothes or costumes. Create a photo backdrop for the hospital and encourage pet owners to dress their pets up for their appointments.
Change a Life
This month is also home to Change a Pet’s Life Day. On January 24, use your social media platforms to encourage your followers to change a pet’s life. Here are some fun and effective ideas:
- Provide links to local pet shelters and create lists of items they need donated
- Partner with a local shelter to have an adoption event in your hospital (be sure to post plenty of pictures and videos from the event)
- Highlight success stories of pet clients who were adopted and finally found their fur-ever families on your social platforms
- Write a blog about different ways people can help animals in the area and promote it on social media
- Set up a pet food and supply donation station in your hospital and chronicle it on your social media pages
