Sizzling Veterinary Social Media Ideas for Your Summer Marketing Plan

Summer is in full swing, and it’s time to turn up the heat on your summer marketing plan to garner plenty of engagement from pet owners in your area. Here are some ideas to add some sizzle to your July marketing calendar to ensure you are making the most of your social media profiles.
Summer Safety
It’s always a good idea to provide some summer safety tips for pets during the hotter months. July happens to be National Pet Hydration Awareness Month, which makes it the perfect time to create some content about keeping pets hydrated. Consider writing a blog that gives tips on encouraging pets to drink water, creating an infographic with signs of dehydration, or filming a short video with tips on heat safety. Don’t forget to also make an educational post on fire safety in time for Pet Fire Safety Day on July 15.
Lights, Cameras, Kittens and Mutts!
July has four notable pet holidays that meld together quite nicely:
- National Kitten Day on the 10th,
- All-American Pet Photo Day on the 11th,
- National Dog Photography Day on the 26th, and
- National Mutt Day on the 31st.
While these are distinct holidays, they do provide creative inspiration for some engagement-worthy social media content. Encourage your followers to share photos of their kittens on the 10th. Ask pet owners to share photos of their mutts on the 31st, and encourage other followers to guess what mix of breeds each dog has. Write a blog with some helpful tips on taking clear photos of pets. Cute pet photos are always a great way to get people to engage with your social media profiles.
Crafts that Care
July 21 is National Craft for Your Local Shelters Day, which provides a unique opportunity for you to interact with your followers while doing something good for local animals in need. Contact your local shelters early in the month and get a list of items they need that can be crafted, then create some posts for your social media profiles asking for help to create them. If you want to really inspire participation, you can offer a free nail trim or other incentive for anyone who brings a craft into the clinic. Take plenty of pictures of the crafts you create to share on your social media pages. Be sure to tag the shelters in your posts so people can see some of the animals they would be helping.
